November 8, 2013.
Early morning we arrive via plane to Punta Arenas, so far the most southern part of the world i've been to. The Andes mountains from the plane looks simply amazing, so great, so white so peaceful.
Strolling around the town looks like this:
If you have a chance, go to restaurant La Marmarita! Amazing food. Simple ingredients but put together cleverly: Ravioli with pumpkin. Yum!
And here is something from a tour to see penguins. We took tour to Seno Otway. Frankly was so not worth it, as the penguins were really far away, you barely could see them and there were very few of them. The photo is on max zoom. Probably we visited on a bad timing , as i read some good reviews on tripadvisor
Be prepared, it BLOWS here. The wind is strong and cold!!
Terra del Fuego
Then we crossed the strait of Magellan with a ferry to visit a small town Porvenir @Tierra del Fuego. To name it a town actually is overstating, it reminded more like a village. The name "land of fire" was given by Hernando Magellan when going with his boats through the strait dividing the mainland and the island, on the shores of which lot of fires made by the indigenous people.
On Chilean side of Terra d.Fuego. there is literally nothing besides Porvenir. This place does feel like the end of the world.

Crossing the Strait of Magellanes takes approx 2 hrs on a ferry. |

our "fancy" restaurant, where we were served a soup and a min course. Really good home cooked food. |
