I don't recall any other year when Christmas, New Years and beginning of January have been so grey; with no snow.

The Different Desert - ATACAMA

I've always perceived the desert as a huge quantities of sand. This was so untrue for the Atacama desert. It is very diverse, amazing. Unfortunately not all places can be explored in detail (meaning not everywhere you are allowed to walk). Valle de la Muerte Before going to the main attraction watching the sunset in the Valle de la Luna , we were taken to see Valle del la muerte , and three Marias. Frankly, I would have preferred biking to these attractions instead of taking the bus tour, as for me the fun is to do something.. not just see or watch. Nevertheless, so the Valle del la Muerte - looked very much like the name says - no life, just rocky mountains. And as it turned out, the name it holds now in fact is just a language mistake. as in the first place it was supposed to be Valle de la Marte as the name of the planet Mars, just in Spanish. Punta Arenas & Porvenir of Terra del Fuego

November 8, 2013. Early morning we arrive via plane to Punta Arenas , so far the most southern part of the world i've been to. The Andes mountains from the plane looks simply amazing, so great, so white so peaceful. Strolling around the town looks like this: i just love the trees that look like big greens/vegies Cemetery of Punta Arenas has some amazing graveyards If you have a chance, go to restaurant La Marmarita ! Amazing food. Simple ingredients but put together cleverly: Ravioli with pumpkin. Yum! And here is something from a tour to see penguins. We took tour to Seno Otway. Frankly was so not worth it, as the penguins were really far away, you barely could see them and there were very few of them. The photo is on max zoom. Torres del Paine (II): Las Torres

Day 2: Lodge Torres Central - Las Torres - el Chileno . Distance: 15.75km Time: 6:01hrs We had some breakfast, which we ordered the previous evening after understanding we will need to eat something that's not the dry trekking food. For breakfast we got, as later I realized, a pretty standard Chilean breakfast that you basically get everywhere- couple slices of toasted bread, cheese, ham, a pinch of scrambled eggs, small sample size jam. Does not sound much, but was enough for me. Is it enough for guys ? Somehow I doubt it. Despite the kind of light drizzling rain, we started the hike excited.
